SC refuses to consider plea against 42% quota to backward classes govt order

THE Supreme Court on Monday in its order refused to entertain a petition challenging the Telangana government’s order to provide 42 per cent reservation to the Backward Classes in local bodies -- municipalities and Panchayats.
During the course of the hearing on Monday, the lawyer for the counsel appearing for the petitioner, Vanga Gopal Reddy, withdrew the plea from the top court, after sensing that the bench of the SC headed by Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta showed its disinclination to hear the plea filed under Article 32 of the Constitution for the protection of fundamental rights.

Zubeen's director pays tribute at Goa film fest
NOTED singer, composer and actor Zubeen Garg was initially approached by director Debangkar Borgohain only to compose the music for the Assamese action thriller Sikaar, but he eventually ended up playing the lead role.
