Pak Spy Ring Probe Widens, 50 From Punjab Under Police Lens
The Morning Standard
|May 21, 2025
The Punjab police are checking the activities and antecedents of around 50 people reportedly involved with eight suspects who have been recently arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan.
This comes days after a YouTuber from Hisar, Jyoti Malhotra (33), was arrested on the charge of espionage.
Sources said the police have arrested the eight people (seven men and a woman) in the last three weeks for alleged spying from Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Malerkotla and Bathinda. Following an investigation, these 50 persons were identified as having been directly or indirectly associated with the suspects. However, they said they had not yet been detained.
All those arrested provided information to the enemy, including troop movements and key strategic locations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, the police said. On May 11, Punjab police arrested two people, a 31-year-old woman, Guzala, and her associate Yameen Mohamad, from Malerkotla for allegedly aiding a Pakistani official posted at the High Commission in Delhi.
