Pak drone incursion in border dist of Samba

JUST as J&K was limping back to normalcy, the sighting of Pakistani drones in Samba late on Monday renewed concerns about how long the fragile India-Pakistan ceasefire would hold.

Notably, the drone activity along the International Border—confirmed by the Army—came shortly after PM Narendra Modi's address to the nation in which he asserted that India would not hesitate to take forceful measures in its sustained fight against terrorism.

"A small number of drones were spotted. The Indian air defence system was activated. The drones intercepted and engaged. There is no need to be alarmed," a defence source said.

Many displaced residents of the border town of Uri had begun returning to their homes in the border area as the region seemed peaceful, with no cross-border shelling in 24 hours.
