NIA raids locations in Punjab in case linked to Khalistani protests abroad

THE National Investigation Agency (NIA), the federal antiterror probe body, conducted raids at several locations on Friday across Punjab's Moga, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Jalandhar districts as part of its ongoing investigation into the March 2023 incident in which Khalistani supporters protested outside the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, Canada, officials have confirmed.

The officials stated that raids were carried out at the residence of Lok Sabha member Amritpal Singh's family in the Baba Bakala subdivision of Punjab. Amritpal Singh, the 30-year-old Sikh separatist leader, was arrested in 2023 for reviving calls for an independent Sikh homeland in Punjab.
