India debunks US human rights report, says 'misleading & biased'

INDIA on Friday debunked the US report on religious freedom, saying that the findings as in the past are biased and lack understanding of the nation's social fabric.

"The report is visibly driven by vote bank considerations and we therefore reject it. The exercise itself is a mix of imputation, misrepresentations, selective usage of facts, reliance of biased sources and one-sided projection of issues. It extends even to the issues of our constitutional provisions and duly enacted laws of India," said Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

India also said that the US has witnessed vandalism of places of worship and accorded political space to advocates of extremism and terrorism abroad.
