ED summons J’khand minister in cash haul case

THE Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam in the cash haul case, asking him to appear before its zonal office on May 14, officials said.
On Wednesday, ED sleuths had entered the rural development ministry office in Ranchi and searched the files following the cash haul of 35.23 crore from the residence of Jahangir Alam, the domestic help of Sanjiv Lal who was the personal secretary to minister Alamgir Alam, a senior Congress MLA. This is the first time that an ED team had entered a government ministry.
During the search, ED had recovered 1.75 lakh new currency notes and 28,000 old 500 notes from the official chamber of Alam's private secretary Sanjeev Lal, who is currently under ED custody.
