Drills to check response system during emergency

IN a gripping simulation of wartime chaos, hospitals across the capital turned into emergency zones on Wednesday as authorities conducted mock drills to test the resilience and preparedness of the healthcare system.

The drills, simulating high-casualty events such as bomb blasts and air strikes, saw the activation of full-scale emergency protocols, emergency service deployment, and multi-agency coordination.

At 4 pm, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital was the epicentre of a mock bomb blast scenario, where 15 "victims" with dummy injuries were rushed into the emergency ward. As per officials, the exercise aimed to test disaster response under pressure, involving critical injuries like burns, neurological trauma, fractures, and internal bleeding, officials said.

"The objective of the drill was to test the hospital's response system in a high-impact urban explosion scenario and strengthen coordination between various departments," a civil defense force official said.
