The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved an umbrella programme by merging 36 existing schemes for uplifting the farm sector in the country under the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana for a period of six years, covering 100 deprived districts with an annual outlay of ₹24,000 crore.
Briefing media after the meeting of the Cabinet, Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana is aimed at augmenting post-harvest storage, improving irrigation facilities, enhancing farm productivity and stepping up credit facility to farmers. The scheme will help nearly 1.7 crore farmers, he added.
