CONG-AAP TUSSLE DEEPENS DISARRAY IN INDIA BLOC
The Morning Standard
|January 10, 2025
As the public spat between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) — key players of opposition INDIA bloc — intensifies in the run-up to the Delhi assembly elections, the internal rift within the coalition appears to be deepening.
Knives were out on Thursday after National Conference (NC) chief and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah suggested that the INDIA bloc be disbanded if its purpose was limited to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His remarks came after other INDIA bloc partners — the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Samajwadi party (SP), Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) — extended support for AAP, which is seeking a third consecutive term in Delhi.
