Bank guard spends night at ATM kiosk in Uri despite heavy shelling

IN A POWERFUL display of commitment to duty, a bank security guard spent the entire night at an ATM kiosk in Jammu and Kashmir's border town of Uri to safeguard the cash, even amid heavy shelling from Pakistani troops.

Abdul Qayoom Awam is posted as a security guard at a J&K Bank ATM in Uri market and has been performing his duties professionally and with full commitment during this distressing time.

"I could not leave the ATM unmanned as there was cash in the machine, and if left unattended, there was a possibility of burglars striking and looting the cash," he said.
