HC asks mosque committee to reimburse cost within seven days
The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to carry out whitewashing of Shahi Jama Masjid in UP's Sambhal district within a week.
The bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal directed the ASI to get those parts of the mosque whitewashed where it was required.
It also asked the mosque management committee to reimburse ASI the cost incurred within a week.
After hearing counsels for the parties, Justice Agarwal also directed the ASI to install lights on the outer portion of the mosque.
