Arun Gawli to stay in jail as SC stays premature release

"SO jaa beta, nahi toh Gabbar aa jayega," a two-judge Supreme Court bench quoted this dialogue from the 1980s Hindi blockbuster Sholay, as it reiterated on Wednesday its earlier order of staying the premature release of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, who is serving life imprisonment in a murder case.
Senior advocate Nitya Ramakrishnan, appearing for Gawli, told the court that the other accused in the case had been granted bail, and the Bombay High Court was correct in granting Gawli premature release.
