In a significant move to boost India's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure development, the Union Cabinet on Monday cleared key proposals worth over ₹18,500 crore.
The decisions include four semiconductor units in three states, an extension of the Lucknow Metro, and a major hydroelectric power project in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved setting up four semiconductor units under the India Semiconductor Mission, which has a total outlay of ₹76,000 crore. These units—two in Odisha, and one each in Punjab and Andhra Pradesh—will be developed at a combined investment of ₹4,594 crore.
