In the fillies and mares MR 99 handicap over 1500m Warning Sound makes appeal for the Sean Tarry yard. She had her seasonal reappearance last time over 1600m at the Vaal Classic track and after being dropped out to last from a wide draw she was making good late progress. She is now drawn well in two and should have come on from that run so could launch her finish from a striking position.

Women's World

Another horse who caught the eye running on in her last start was the James Crawford-trained Women's World. She managed a 4,85 length fourth to Twostep Queen over 1450m after being dropped out from a wide draw but would have got closer if not hampered late.

That was also her seasonal reappearance and was in fact her first run on the Highveld for the Crawford yard having relocated from the East Cape. She will appreciate the step up by 50m and should be running on late again after being dropped out from another wide draw. Twostep Queen won that race at Turffontein Inside by 3,25 lengths but was raised seven points so will find it tough running off a seven point higher mark. The four-year-old Potala Palace filly could still progress but this mark is six points higher than she has ever raced off so it won't be easy, although she has a fair draw of three.

South Africa’s G20 moment exposes deep cracks at home and abroad

OUR COUNTRY is not in the space it should be in. As a host of G20 we would have loved to be a shining star that had dealt poverty a blow, a place where corruption was dealt with firmly, where children have a brighter future, taps are not only running but are oozing label blue water, with smooth streets, where women feel safe, and children are assured of a meal daily.

Hooray for my English teacher who taught me satire

FOR those pupils that played hooky to catch fish while educators were teaching \"metaphors\" \"irony\", \"sarcasm\", etc, and others who missed my tongue-in-cheek take in The Mercury last week regarding the \"swarms\" of Palestinians who would soon not only invade our free country, take-over all our green fields, set up their throne in New Pretoria, and even shunt all of us \"indigenous\" Indian, White and Black people into a fenced off area in the northern Cape, after the international powers that be justified all of that, by \"just saying\" that the \"Palestinians were always here\" and were, in present-time, actually experiencing a holocaust of their own, back home, so really deserved to be freely commuted here: Excuse me!
