The writing is on the wall, we must protect our hard-won democracy

THE writing is clearly on the Wailing ‘Wall.

Almost every country in the world, arguably, is moving towards either anarchy or fascism.

Becoming ultra nationalist or adopting a higher order of tyrannical, one-party statehood is the new neo-bully on the block.

There never was, of course, general freedom of expression in the Arab states, in Russia, in China...and also in many other countries. Most European countries, however, did have some semblance of democracy before 911.

All that is, of course, gone now, as each country flexes its muscle, installing virtual or real fences and encapsulating itself and seeking shelter from every other state. All outsiders are considered enemies. Visas to enter are difficult to obtain.

Clearly, all “white” countries are now blocking out Black and Brown refugees — conveniently erasing the fond memory of having lavishly colonised and greedily pillaged Africa, South America and major parts of South East Asia.
