THE oft-maligned Motaung brothers, Bobby and Kaizer Jr., because of Kaizer Chiefs' appalling lack of success and dismal Premiership record in recent seasons, have finally experienced the gratifying sensation of achievement.
Chiefs stunned Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday to end a 10-year trophy drought and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
This triumph marks a significant milestone for the club, as it ends the trophy drought that has weighed heavily on the shoulders of the Motaung brothers. For years, the brothers have faced increasing scrutiny due to a lack of silverware and a disappointing performance in the Premiership.
Their underwhelming results had often led to heavy criticism aimed at them, highlighting the urgent need for a change in fortunes.
The achievement comes under the stewardship of Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr, appointed in July 2021. It has been a challenging path, filled with ups and downs, but he remained steadfast in his vision.
