THE BRICS Business Forum convened on July 5 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - bringing together high-profile business leaders, policymakers and professionals from member countries to deliberate on persistent issues shaping the development agenda of the BRICS bloc.

The Forum, held alongside the annual BRICS Summit, serves as a vibrant platform for engagement between Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and newly-joined members Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. With the aim of advancing cooperation in the face of global challenges, it brings together the efforts of member countries to promote an agenda based on innovation, sustainability and economic inclusion.
This significant gathering offers South African companies and organisations an exclusive opportunity to engage with international counterparts, exchange trade ideas, attract investment, forge strategic partnerships, and expand market reach across emerging economies.
Just energy transition
The BRICS Business Forum is intended to bring together top decision-makers to identify pragmatic answers to the challenges facing BRICS nations and the global economy. Among the key contributors was Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) CEO, Thabane Zulu, who joined a delegation led by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) as a member of the working group. In Brazil, he participated as a panellist in forums focused on renewable energy and strategies towards achieving zero carbon emissions.
