Canyon sunsets, misty hot tubs by a crackling fire, artisanal treasures — this Californian gem keeps pulling the designer, film-maker and sister of Gigi and Bella back

TAKE A HIKE TO TOPANGA WITH ALANA HADID

What's your favourite destination and why?

I love Topanga in California. It's actually very close to where I live, so it's an easy escape away from home. It's kind of wild and earthy and artistic, bold and original - all the things I strive to be in my life. It's very much a place to come back to yourself. There's not a lot to do, it's not activity-driven, there's not a million places to go but honestly, as soon as you're there, it's a place to calm your nerves and find yourself again.

When were you last there and who were you with?

Yesterday. I was there with my husband, having breakfast and picking up our Christmas tree. I love travelling but the fact that I live so close to Topanga and can go all the time is something.

Where do you like to stay there?

Even though it's very close, we do staycations there. There's a placed called Elsewhere that's extremely Topanga-coded. It's very magical; there's a Russian sauna and they've converted all these carriage cars into places you can stay.

What has been your favourite meal there?

My first date with my husband at Cafe on 27. We had a breakfast date which is weird but cute. We talked for three hours, we ate great food and drank coffee and matchas and really got to know each other. And the rest is history.

If you only had 24 hours there, what would you do?
