MY NIGHT IN LONDON'S TINIEST HOTEL ROOM
The London Standard
|October 23, 2025
Zedwell Capsule Hotel, Piccadilly
I heave myself up a set of wooden stairs and roll up the shutters on my sleeping pod.
Getting in requires wriggling around all my luggage, but once I'm in, I'm in. The shutter comes down and locks with the click; I turn the light off. All I can hear is the whoosh of the air conditioning. If I reach above my head, I can just about touch the ceiling.
Welcome to Zedwell's world of Japaneseinfluenced sleeping "capsules" - stackable pods complete with lighting, a bed, some hooks and, erm, not much else. Though these style of hotels are common in Asia, they're less so in the UK - until now. Newly opened, Zedwell's offering gives travellers the chance to spend the night in the biggest capsule hotel in the world for a mere £30. Even better, it's just a minute's walk from the city's biggest attractions. When it comes to location, you can't get much better than Piccadilly Circus, and these guys are a hundred metres away from the famous fountain at its centre.
