YOANE Wissa has revealed he is still far from fully fit as he battles to play a role in turning Newcastle United’s season around.

- By ROSS GREGORY

The striker returned to the fray after months on the sidelines when he injured his knee playing for DR Congo just days after sealing his £55million deadline day move from Brentford to St James’ Park.

Wissa was forced to watch on as he underwent a lengthy rehabilitation programme, before finally making his United debut on December 6 against Burnley at St James’ Park.

Since then, he has had a number of cameos, including the last 20 minutes against Manchester United on Boxing Day as he was thrust into the action with Newcastle desperately searching for an equaliser.

The 29-year-old replaced fellow frontman Nick Woltemade with a number of fans clamouring for the pair to play together and forge a strike partnership.
