Two North East bank branches set to close

SANTANDER is set to join a number of banks in closing branches throughout the summer, with 14 of its outlets including two in the North East scheduled to shut down in various towns and cities across the UK in August.

The trend towards online banking has been cited as the reason for these closures by several banks, including NatWest, Lloyds and Halifax.
Santander had previously announced in March that it would be shutting 95 branches, scaling back hours at 36 locations, and removing front counters from 18.
