Trippier is worth new deal - Carr

NEWCASTLE United should renew Kieran Trippier's contract, despite the fact he is entering the twilight years of his career.

That is the verdict of former Magpies right-back Stephen Carr, who feels his experience and guidance remain crucial to the development of Eddie Howe's side.

Trippier joined Newcastle in January 2022 from Atletico Madrid and has had a transformative impact.

The former England international's arrival paved the way for future major signings to follow him through the door at St James' Park, while on the pitch his performances helped drive standards in an upwards direction.
