Tissue firm changes put DHL depot jobs at risk

JOBS are set to go at a Northumberland logistics depot which is attached to a major regional employer.

It is understood that around 47 jobs are at risk at the DHL depot at the Essity facility at Prudhoe Mill, the North East base for the global tissue maker which makes products under household brands including Tena, Bodyform, Velvet, Cushelle, Plenty and Tork.

Earlier this year Essity, the UK's biggest user of recycled fibre in household tissue, switched production from its 50-year-old plant to a new £30m recycling facility built right alongside.

The company partners with DHL to distribute its products, and while it has not confirmed the number of potential redundancies it says it is restructuring its operations at the factory, amid changes within Essity.
