Summit will highlight what North has to offer

An investment summit that aims to showcase the North of England on the global stage has been announced by North East mayor Kim McGuinness.

The Great North Investment Summit has been put together by The Great North, a partnership founded by northern mayors to boost the region's economy.

It will take place in Leeds next May, ahead of the UK's Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), an event that attracts investors from around the world.

The summit comes after growing calls from business and civic leaders for a dedicated event for potential investors to promote the North's economic potential. It will feature “pipeline-ready investment opportunities” in the North’s growth sectors, with organisers saying that it has the potential to add more than £100bn to the UK economy.
