Student flats plan for above restaurant refused

PLANS for student lodgings above a restaurant in Sunderland city centre have been rejected by council development heads due to concerns about noise.

Sunderland City Council's planning department has turned down an application for 15 Waterloo Place, on the corner with Blandford Street and near the city's main railway station.
The corner retail unit was previously home to the Herbert Brown jewellery shop and there have been several attempts in recent years to transform the upper floors of the building into residential accommodation.
