Solution sought for Metro trains feeling heat

THE new Tyne and Wear Metro trains pulled from use due to leaking air conditioning units are all now back in service.

Passengers reported seeing water pouring from the ceiling of the Stadler trains into the carriage during the heatwave last Friday and Saturday.
Metro bosses said “up to four” of the Swiss-built trains had to be withdrawn from the timetable as a result.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) understands the subsequent drop in temperatures has since allowed them all to be returned to duty.
