Society 'ready to throw open doors' to new site

NEWCASTLE Building Society will open its new flagship branch in the city centre next month after a refurbishment of a prominent listed building.
The building society is moving from its current city centre site near Haymarket to a building on the corner of Grainger Street overlooking Grey's Monument.
The new branch will open on July 7 in what was a former French Connection, Boots and Geordie Jeans shop. The 200-year-old building has undergone a multimillion-pound refurbishment over the past two years.
The society says the investment in the property demonstrates its commitment to the North East. As well as a branch offering financial services for customers, all five floors of the building have been brought back to life for use by businesses, charities and civic groups.
