Sickness and disability driving rise in 'Neets'

THE number of young people not in education, employment or training (Neets) is on track to hit one million for the first time in more than a decade, new research has suggested.

An analysis by the Resolution Foundation showed the biggest increase in the number of so-called Neets in the past few decades has been among those inactive due to disability or ill health.
The total among 16 to 24-year-olds has risen by 195,000 over the past two years to reach 940,000.
