Sheridan hopes to inspire the next generation of lifesavers

THE Tynemouth RNLI has appointed the first female lifeboat operations manager (LOM), in the hopes that she can 'inspire the next generation of lifesavers'.

Sheridan Bowler has previously held crew roles on both inshore and all-weather lifeboats, and she has said that she is 'up for the challenge'.

She was also previously the lifeboat training coordinator for the station, so she is well-suited to a leadership role. The LOM oversees the operations team, consisting of boats officers and launch authorities, as well as taking responsibility for the crew at the station.
