Schar very much still in the picture

FABIAN Schar remains a vital part of Eddie Howe's plans despite Malick Thiaw grasping his opportunity to impress.

The classy German international has quickly captured the imagination of Newcastle United fans and has his own chant in the bag already.

However, Schar, pictured below, who will be 34 in December, is still very much in the picture as far as Howe is concerned, and while his current deal ends on June 30, a further decision must be made on his future.

There will be no shortage of interest in Schar if he becomes available on a free transfer, and if no deal is agreed, the club could look to cash in with January the last opportunity to do so.
