Priory to trial night opening ‘with rules’

THE gates of one of North Tyneside's most recognisable landmarks are to stay open in the evenings so that people can enjoy a stroll in the grounds.
Tynemouth Priory’s outer gates will remain open overnight on weekdays from today in a two-week trial, so that visitors can walk around the moat.
The gates were originally closed due to damage and antisocial behaviour.
English Heritage said that the change marks an “important step” in reconnecting with the local community.
A spokesperson said: “We want the Priory to be a shared space for everyone - somewhere to relax, reflect and enjoy the historic surroundings together.
