Plan to clean up graffiti from monument

PLANS are under way to rid a listed Tynemouth monument from graffiti left by vandals.

According to council documents and photos, several parts of the Collingwood Monument have been spray painted, warranting restoration.
The local authority’s planning department has received an application from within the council itself for permission to clean the monument.
