Pensioner fights for life after assault

NORTHUMBRIA Police have issued an appeal for witnesses of an alleged serious assault in South Tyneside at the weekend to come forward with information.

The incident is reported to have taken place on Saturday afternoon and has left one man fighting for his life.
The force said that shortly before 3.30pm on Saturday officers received a report of a serious assault at Whiteleas Way roundabout at the junction with Nevinson Avenue in South Shields.
It was reported that an altercation had taken place between a man in a Nissan Micra and a man travelling on a mobility scooter on the road.
