A MOTORCYCLIST clocked eyewatering speeds of more than 130mph as he took police on a dangerous chase before crashing into a bush.

- SARA NICHOL Court reporter sara.nichol@reachplc.com

Daniel Bourn was uninsured to ride his £3,000 bike, which also didn’t have an MOT and wasn't taxed, and didn’t have the correct licence.

A court heard that the 20-year-old reached 70mph in 30mph zones along residential streets in Ashington and travelled on the wrong side of the road before clocking more than 130mph along the A197, a 60mph area.

The pursuit finally came to an end when Bourn lost control of his powerful bike and crashed into a hedge.

He managed to walk away uninjured and was arrested at the scene.

Bourn, of Ariel Street, in Ashington, has now been given a 32-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving with no insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and failing to stop for a constable.
