MAINSFORTH emerged victorious in a tight clash against South Shields, winning by just three runs.
Hosts Mainsforth made a poor start as South Shields reduced them to 29-4 early on.
However, Kevin Dixon made 37 and Aidan Cummings 27, putting on 68 for the fifth wicket, to get Mainsforth to 139 all out.
Shields then started poorly and were reduced to 33-3, but Bayley Holman rallied the Mariners with 58.
However, in a nailbiting finish, the visitors were all out for 136, thanks to Dixon and Thomas Teesdale sharing six wickets.
