Magna Carta exhibition doubles cathedral visits

DURHAM Cathedral Museum has reported a record number of visitors this summer thanks to its Magna Carta exhibition. More than 15,650 people have been drawn to see the historical documents on display so far, with two months left to run.

Since the exhibition opened on July 11, the museum has seen more than double the number of visitors from 2024, with thousands more visiting the Cathedral itself and seeing the supporting art installations that form part of the wider Magna Carta and the North exhibition. Visitors can view the only surviving 1216 Magna Carta, alongside issues from 1225 and 1300, and three Forest Charters.
