Illegal haul of fireworks seized after house raided

ALMOST 20kg of unlicensed fireworks have been seized from a property in Newcastle.

The seizure in Walker was a joint effort by Northumbria Police, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWERS) and Newcastle City Council's Trading Standards.
‘The inspection of an address in the Blackwell Avenue area took place as a result of intelligence which suggested fireworks were being sold from the address, despite the occupant not having a licence to do so.
Enforcement officers from the fire service entered the premises alongside police and Trading Standards colleagues, where fireworks were found and seized.
