Hall set for ‘new heart and soul' with multi-million pound regeneration

PLANS to breathe fresh life into a historic Northumberland building have taken another major step towards becoming reality.
-
Councillors signed off proposals on Tuesday morning that will see Alnwick’s deteriorating Northumberland Hall handed over to the Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery (BMG), under a multi-million pound regeneration project.
The grade I listed building was built by the third Duke of Northumberland and dates back to 1826, but now lies vacant and has fallen into a “poor condition”.
It is now set to be taken over by the BMG, which will relocate from its current home in the town’s St Mary’s Church.
