'Garden with caution' to avoid hurting hedgehogs

As the temperature starts to climb, so does the number of admissions to this local 'hogspital'.
In total, 721 hedgehogs were admitted to Hope for Hedgehogs, in Ryton, last year, many suffering from similar avoidable injuries. And despite the best efforts of the volunteers to nurse them back to health, some are sadly too sick to survive.
It's heartbreaking for the team of up to 70 volunteers who work tirelessly to protect these animals, yet predict that the number of admissions will rise to 850 this year.
