Future of four schools goes to the public again
The Journal
|December 06, 2025
THE future of four schools in North Tyneside are now subject to a second public consultation.
The outcome of this will decide whether two institutions close and merge with neighbouring schools.
Parents and residents can now have their say on council proposals to merge Hazlewood Community Primary School and Greenfields Community Primary School.
Similar proposals are now open to public comment for Ivy Road and Forest Hall primaries.
This is the second consultation on the future of education on North Tyneside in recent months.
Initial proposals launched in early October also called for the closure of Monkseaton Middle School and the closure and merging of Langley First School.
These options were paused to allow for the exploration of the expansion of Monkseaton Middle and the possible academisation of Langley. However, no viable options for Hazlewood or Ivy Road were identified in the original consultation, which ended in November.
