Former workhouse up for sale
The Journal
|July 03, 2025
THE sellers of a prominent historic building in a Northumberland town have said they are confident of finding a suitable buyer.
The former Hexham Workhouse on Corbridge Road had been owned by the 79th Group, but the company collapsed into administration as City of London Police probe allegations of fraud.
Administrators Quantuma have instructed auctioneers Landwood to manage the sale of the Southport based company's assets, including the former workhouse. 79th Group has denied any wrongdoing.
Landwood has already found a buyer for a former cinema in Birkenhead, with the workhouse and a two-storey office block in Warrington set to go under the hammer.
