First pop-up store as hobby takes next step

A YOUNG Newcastle entrepreneur who has turned a fashion hobby into a lucrative £200,000 business is launching his first pop-up store.

Scott Whitehead, 27, of Gosforth, says he has dreamed of running his own retail business ever since selling chocolate bars in the school yard. He swapped selling Snickers for rare sneakers, building up a pre-loved clothing empire which has amassed a faithful following of fashion aficionados, by specialising in rare collaborations, high-end streetwear and art, buying from the UK and across the world.

Now, after accruing around £200,000 in turnover to date through the Hideaway Store and its website - thehideawaystore.co.uk - he's opening his first pop-up store at Bottleworks at the Ouseburn, Newcastle, where he'll be selling his pre-loved clothing, footwear and art.

He said: "I'm excited to finally showcase to the world what I have in person, it's all about creating that immersive experience."
