NEWCASTLE United secured a vital three points on Saturday afternoon as Nick Woltemade’s debut goal was enough to seal a 1-0 win over Wolves.
After three games without victory, Newcastle had to grind out their first win of the campaign but their new club record signing made an instant impact on his Premier League bow.
It lifted the Magpies back into the top half of the table and gave them the perfect platform to build from as they look ahead to their Champions League return on Thursday.
Here are five things we learned from a crucial win for Eddie Howe's side.
Woltemade shows what Newcastle have been missing
In one bullet header, Woltemade showed what Newcastle have been desperately missing so far this season. If the Magpies lacked a cutting edge in the opening three matches of the season, they certainly didn’t against Wolves.
Woltemade pulled away from his marker brilliantly in the box to crash home his header from Jacob Murphy’s inviting cross and St James’ Park instantly had a new hero.
All four sides of the stadium adored the German international with a chant of 'Woltemade, Woltemade, ole, ole ole, and just like that a final line felt like it was drawn under the Alexander Isak saga.
