AN attempted robbery in Newcastle city centre is being investigated by police.

Northumbria Police put out a public appeal for witnesses after the incident on Wednesday near The County Hotel on Neville Street. Just after 6.20am, police received a report that a woman had been followed by two men on bicycles who, when challenged, said they had been attempting to take her bag.
