Bees' Dortmund move could unlock Wissa deal
The Journal
|August 29, 2025
BRENTFORD'’S reported interest in Borussia Dortmund forward Max Beier could be set to unlock Yoane Wissa’s move to Newcastle United.
Two offers have been rejected for Wissa, with the latest up to £40m, as the Magpies look to strengthen their frontline before the end of the transfer window.
Despite Wissa’s wish to leave and make the switch to St James’ Park, Brentford have placed a £60m asking price on his head and do not want to lose him this summer.
The 28-year-old has removed all association with the Bees on Instagram and he's pushing to make the big-money switch to the Magpies.
While Brentford have insisted that Wissa is not for sale, their proposed swoop for Beier could now set off a chain reaction and allow the DR Congo international to join Newcastle before Monday's deadline.
The Bees are said to be considering a move for long-term target Beier after failing to sign him last summer. The 22-year-old was an unused substitute during Dortmund’s Bundesliga curtain-raiser against St Pauli.
