ALUN Armstrong has warned Gateshead they will have to "do it the hard way" after they were handed a home tie with League Two leaders Walsall in the FA Cup second round draw.

The Heed produced one of the shocks of the first round weekend as top scorer Kain Adom and former Middlesbrough youngster Fenton John both scored in a 2-0 win at League One playoff contenders AFC Wimbledon.

Their reward will be a home tie against Walsall on the weekend of Saturday, December 6 and the Saddlers will look to end Gateshead's hope of securing a potentially lucrative draw against a Premier League giant in the third round of the competition.

Armstrong is hopeful the local community will rally behind his players in their bid to cause another major upset.
