Arrest over suspected racial abuse at derby

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence at the Tyne-Wear Derby last month.

The match was paused in 52nd minute after Sunderland defender Lutsharel Geertruida was allegedly the subject of racist abuse.

A 45-year-old from the Gateshead area was arrested on Tuesday and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
