Armstrong 'over the moon' at one big leap for Heed

ALUN Armstrong declared himself ‘over the moon’ as Gateshead emerged from a challenging first week of the season to claim a fine 2-0 win at Eastleigh.

A deeply disappointing home defeat against Southend United got Armstrong's managerial reign and the new National League season off to a poor start at the International Stadium last weekend.
And although there was an improvement in performance in Wednesday night’s National League Cup tie with Newcastle United Under-21s, the Heed came out on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller against the Magpies youngsters.
