£70k to sustain farming lessons

THE NFU Mutual Charitable Trust has pledged £70,000 to support NFU Education, to help bring food and farming into classrooms across the country.

The organisation said that the continued investment comes at a time when demand for food and farming education is stronger than ever.

NFU research earlier this year revealed that two-thirds of teachers believe food and farming should play a bigger role in the national curriculum. So far, more than 36,000 people have signed the NFU’s petition calling on the Government to review the curriculum.

NFU Education has ramped up its outreach in response, and over the past year more than half a million schoolchildren have taken part in NFU live lessons.
