Many promises made in previous budget remain unfulfilled, says SJB

Heated exchanges erupted in Parliament yesterday as Kalutara District SJB MP Ajith P. Perera accused the government of having failed fulfil its promises made in the previous Budget.

Perera said the government had not brought at least one of the 11 key reform bills President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had pledged to pass within the year.
"During a budget debate, we must assess two things. The country's financial situation and the measures taken by the government to create a stable environment for economic recovery," Perera said.
